North to Alaska

Herb here...........
Gee, I was wondering....you know the expression, something about what if a tree falls in the forest and if there is no one to hear it......something. Anyway, what if I type something in this blog and there is no one who reads it? Or cares?
Tiffany and I are slowly getting our act together, making rudimentary plans, writing our wills.......all in anticipation of leaving Rockville on July 15th for Alaska. Should be fun. Actually, this is Tiffany's fault. Seems last year when we rode the rental bike out to the reunion, Tiffany struck up a conversation with a biker at a gas station who remarked as how they were returning from Alaska. So (regretfully I suspect, in retrospect), she said,"Hey Herb, let's ride to Alaska next year". Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........
What with having had a successful 7,000 mile ride last summer, I got the hots for a Honda Goldwing like the one we rented. Tiffany, bless her heart, in a moment of temporary insanity, conceded that it was OK, go for it. Seems I found a used'06 Wing in the Washington Post ( a great newspaper, I might add; lots of great writers and investigative reporters). The seller, about my age, but four inches shorter had had the bike for only four months and had put only 3,222 miles on it. I think personally, he was just too challenged, height-wise. The price was reasonable for this type of boy toy at age 64, so now we have the wheels and the desire and the time and the decidedly lack of common sense that just maybe we can pull this off.
This may be the first of an installment. We plan to get a MacBook Pro to take along and with the Garmin GPS I just bought for the bike, I think I can keep a running log of our trip. We shall see.

return to dallas

While Patricia was in Canada seeing her newest grandson, I was in Dallas seeking info on my father. I used the Harris home as a base and Jan drove me to Bonham, Tx. We talked to many VERY interesting people and got a lot of tips and helpful info but no real answers. Jan then drove me to San Saba to check on the grave sites at the Green plots. They were still there. I then ordered a stone for myself. I expect to need it in about thirty years.
While Patricia was in Montreal, her sister called from Seattle and said that their mother had fallen and was in the hospital in Kamloops. Patricia flew back to Plant City (her visit was over anyway) and immediately flew to Seattle and then on to Kamloops. She is there now and will return to Floriduh in two weeks. They are trying to arrange for a person to come to their Mothers house two or three times a week to check on her. She refused to consider a nursing home. Just another speed bump.
Don, you look just the way I remember.

Reunion information

To everyone, this is Nancy,if you are coming to the reunion please email me don't think that I will get on the blog and see that you are coming. I am not into blogs yet, and haven't had time to learn about it. I would not have know that Lou and Randy and Don and Elaine were coming if Janet had not told me on the phone that you were on the blog. This old lady is still in the dark ages for awhile.
Love you all,
Nancy

Greetings from Tulsa

From Tipis to Towers in Tulsa - This photo was taken at our last stage performance. Don and I square danced in the annual Red Glove Review's production Tipis to Towers and Beyond for the purpose of raising money for cerebral palsy. Four square dance couples participated in the celebration right after "Teddy Roosevelt" signed Oklahoma into statehood! It was fun to see the history of Oklahoma in story and song. Surprisingly no talent agents have contacted any of us for other casting calls! Now to the real reason for signing on Jen's blog. We plan to be in Post on Thursday or Friday, so see you there. Also big thanks to Jennifer for the site. Technology can be so handy!

an afternoon off

Top: Maren, Collin
Middle: Grace, Anders
Bottom: Ella and Lara

Yesterday, Lara and I decided to pull the kids from school for the afternoon and visit the annual butterfly tent at Willow Bend Mall. Actually this was very educational and besides, they only have 14 days of school left but who's counting? As you can see most had a great time. Ella was a little apprehensive and Ryan would have nothing to do with the "scary bugs".
David, we may not have the weather, but we do have some serious mall entertainment here in Texas!
Love from Jenny and Lara

east indian cell phone help

I notice that not many have made resevations for the reunion (see, I can spell reunion). I tried to call Kimberly in Pierrefonds, Canada and was told to check my number. I can call her on the land line, but my cell refused to connect. My skilled cell phone helper in India told me I had to emter a city code. I didn't know what a city code was, he said he didn't either, and if I had any other questions, please call back. Oh well. I was unable to talk to Kim, but I'll keep trying. They are coming to Florida in Sep. for a weeek at the beach, so I doubt they will try to make the reonion...unless I or they win the lottery.david

Thanks Jenny

Jenny

Thanks for setting this up for all of us.

I love the password, but I can see how David Green will have a hard time getting in the site. He has misspelled that particular word for as long as I've known him. Patricia, he will need help, but of course you've known that for many years.

Also to Robert Cox on his upcoming birthday---------Happy Birthday Robert

Louis (Pop)

newbie

thanks jenny. Now if I can just figure out how to use this thing...
wudkarver (david) is VERY new to this.
We, Patricia and I are looking forward to the reonion in Post.

As we process the tragedy at Virginia Tech, and the impact this will have on all of us I really don't have words to express the sadness but I am thankful today to know that life does include some immediate relief like the love from family.

"Bereavement is a universal and integral part of our experience of love." C.S. Lewis

Hi from Jennifer! It's a little damp here in Dallas today but you know what they say... April showers bring May flowers.
